Our Story
Welcome to our adventurous world of sunshine, delicious food, and breathtaking sunsets! We are a family living our dream in our beloved Kombi, Izzie.
We are happiest camping under the stars, and while doing so we created the Better for the Earth camp chairs because, after all, Mother Earth deserves a comfy seat too.
We are determined to help provide camp gear that brings you joy while also reducing waste on our planet. Currently, there is an estimated 75 to 199 million tons of plastic waste in our oceans, with an additional 33 billion pounds of plastic entering the marine environment each year.
We believe in preserving as much of this world as possible by choosing materials that are durable and environmentally friendly. Our camp chairs feature eucalyptus frames and repurposed recycled poly, offering comfort while you take in the beautiful views.

Our two books are a culmination of years spent cooking and exploring while camping. We have channelled our knowledge and passion into these works to help you embark on your own adventures and savour this precious life. Inside, you'll find recipes for perfect campfire meals as well as a travel guide to plan your ultimate van life trip in New Zealand.
Our adventures with Izzie began in Australia, where we enjoyed a slow-paced life for five glorious years. However, realizing that life is too short to remain in one place, we packed up and set sail for New Zealand. By this time, our family had grown, so Izzie underwent a little makeover—she received a new engine, gearbox, and more—to tow our 700-kilo fibreglass caravan. After three months of repainting and plenty of hard work, our tiny home on wheels was finally ready to roll.
New Zealand was magical, especially when I shared my homeland with the kids. But wanderlust is a persistent fellow, so we shipped our trusty combo to Japan. Why not? Japan’s all about that slow, meaningful living—just our speed.

Japan has been a third home for us for the past ten years, with Lockie working there during various stints. Camping in the countryside, away from the city lights and metro train stations, was a enjoyable surprise for us. The country is quiet, calm, and peaceful, with plenty of roadside markets filled with fresh vegetables and fruits. The seafood markets are absolutely incredible, taking things to a whole new level, GIANT crabs and Scallops for one. We discovered some hidden spots to camp and cook, allowing us to experience authentic Japanese camping culture.
Our kombi and caravan are on the ship to our next country. Stay tuned as we explore the world by kombi as we continue our camping adventures around the globe with our three mini-explorers, before they grow up and think they’re too cool for us. Buckle up—it’s going to be a wild ride!
